Workforce Needs Assessment
As part of the Mental Health Services Act (Prop. 63), the County of San Diego will gather community input for Workforce Education and Training (WET) planning from November 2007 through January 2008. Once a local needs assessment is completed and community input is gathered, a Workforce Plan will be developed and put forth for approval by the County Mental Health Board and Board of Supervisors, and submitted to the State for approval. San Diego County will be allocated approximately $8 million to:
 |

- With community input, identify workforce education and training strategies.
The WET has five funding categories:
- Workforce Staffing – address staffing shortages.
- Training and Technical Assistance – provide Culturally Competent services.
- Mental Health Career Pathway Programs – To further develop programs that facilitate employment in Mental Health Services.
- Residency, Internship Programs – create new programs that provide educational and employment opportunities to students entering the Mental Health Services field.
