Alice Kennedy began her career with the County of San Diego Child Welfare Services in 1992. Employed as a social worker, Alice was initially assigned to the Sexual Abuse Adjunct Unit. Since this time, Alice has worked in several programs and in various capacities, including an appointment by the Director to the position of Ombudsman of Child Welfare Services from 2001 to 2004. Alice possesses a Masters Degree in Social Work, with an emphasis in Administration. She presently applies her an administrative skills in Centralized Child Welfare Services, where she provides coordination and oversight of the Countywide Drug Endangered Children Program (DEC), supervises the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) Office, and handles special assignments for the Assistant Deputy Director.

Over the years, Alice has gained a wealth of experience while working in several child welfare programs. These programs include: Continuing Services Medically Fragile and Sexual Abuse, Immediate Response Services, Initial Services, Court Intervention, and the Child Abuse Hotline/After-hours Standby Program. In addition to her role as a protective services worker and supervisor, Alice has served as the Agency Adoptions Recruiter, HHSA Staff Recruiter and Ombudsman.

Because of her breadth of knowledge of child welfare policy and practice, Alice is often requested to facilitate training for CWS new hires, interns and HHSA department personnel. Alice has conducted training and presentations in the following areas: Child Abuse Investigations, Civil Rights, Child Welfare Services Overview, Family Court Services, First Responders, DEC, Adoption Informational Meetings and Workshops, Ombudsman Issues, Effective Home Visiting, and other specialized topics. Presently, Alice facilitates training for the CWS Social Work Initial Training classes.
