CORE COURSE FOR MANAGERS

PCWTA's Core Management training was developed as a six-day course composed of six "stand alone" classes. This course is based on management competencies drawn from a variety of sources, including the CalSWEC competencies, the statewide Child Welfare Manger Competencies, the Institute for Human Services competencies, a Social Work in Administration journal article, The Child Welfare Institute and the Southern Region's Academy Task Force meetings. Upon completing all classes in the course, each trainee receives a Certificate of Completion from the Academy.

The Core practice course for middle managers is intended for audiences consisting of new child welfare services middle management staff such as Regional Chief/District Managers or other staff persons performing management tasks which may include, but are not limited to: planning, organizing, directing, staffing, coordinating, reporting, financial management and evaluation. This may include Administrative Analyst staff, "acting" managers, lead line supervisors or management staff transitioning to new job responsibilities.
